// BUYING GUIDE · UPDATED MARCH 2025
All officially confirmed information on price, availability, and how to stay ahead of the launch.
Elon Musk has repeatedly cited a target price of under $20,000–$30,000 for consumer units — explicitly comparing it to the cost of a used car. This is a design target, not a confirmed retail price.
For industrial and commercial buyers, initial pricing will likely be higher, as early units go to businesses willing to pay a premium to deploy the technology before it reaches mass market scale. A lease or subscription model has also been discussed.
Tesla is currently deploying Optimus internally — inside its own Gigafactories to perform repetitive manufacturing tasks. As of early 2025, no units have been sold to external parties.
Tesla produced several thousand units in 2024. The target for 2025 is tens of thousands. If production ramps as planned, commercial sales to businesses could begin in late 2025 or 2026, with broader consumer availability following in 2026–2027.
Important: There is no official pre-order system. Any third-party site claiming to take Optimus pre-orders is not affiliated with Tesla.
